Before there was anything, there was a person called Zog. There has not been much preserved of Zog, of who he was, and only his deed is known. It is said that Zog was approached by the wisps and due reasons unknown Zog was given the great spell of Armageddon. Why did Zog choose to cast it is unknown as well, perhaps the world was too corrupt, we may perhaps never know. By destruction he brought life to Sosaria, a new dawn, dawn of men. Never should we forget that the destiny of many could be on hand of one. From the beginning of time Britannia has had leaders, both good and rotten ones. This incarnation of history begins from the rise of a man named Mondain, for it was him in many ways who begun the modern history of Britannia. Wolfgang was the leading magician, both respected and powerful man of his time. The magician was well known from his research as well from his wisdom, and this is why no one suspected that nothing of ill could began from his family. Unfortunately his very son became Wolfgang's fall, and almost as a fall of entire Sosaria. His son was the dread being named Mondain. It was Wolfgang who had developed a powerful ritual that would make person immortal, and it was knowledge of this what his son begun to hungered over everything else. However the wise Wolfgang saw that desires and greed, rather than philosophical peace, controlled his son and denied his son for the access to the spell. Presumably Wolfgang could not see the true corruption of his son before it was too late, for so great was Mondain's hunger for power that he murdered his own father to access to it. The historical manuscripts of the Lycaeum are not clear here, but apparently his father hath not used the spell on himself, as the murder was successful. It is also speculated that immortality was only to halt ageing, as fall of Mondain and Mondain's student's return have later suggested. With powers of his father, Mondain began to conquer Sosaria and was successful to bind the world to his sole rule. It was then when the man we know as the stranger arrived, the man from prophesy, a stranger from the stars who was summoned to save Sosaria. And he did indeed proof to be the true saviour by confronting him at the Dark Citadel. He killed Mondain and shattered the gem of immortality, which was the source of Mondains powers. With the shattering of the gem Sosaria was freed of the terrible curse. The destruction of the gem also caused the landmasses to shake and move, thus forming the world, as we know it today. There is few theorise why the stranger did what he did. Firstly there is the obvious one, which is that he was indeed the saviour of prophets and did these acts without any gain. Second theory is more sinister, but by no means should it be excluded because of it. It is said by other legacy that the stranger's deeds were more self-centred, rather than being truly Virtuous. It has been said that the stranger actually killed Mondain because of jealous act to gain attention of Minax; Mondain's young lover and student. Which is the trust is impossible to say as too long time has passed and there is no neutral observation of this. It was also the last time that the saviour, the stranger, was seen. However his legend has over the years grown and he has evolved to a symbol of the Eight Virtues, which were later established by Lord British, after he became the second sole ruler of Britannia. From the ruins of Sosaria man known as Lord British rise and united Sosaria as one nation: Britannia. To establish belief and good manners the philosopher king established the Eight Virtues, which to this day has remained as the only major philosophy of the land. And to Virtues we owe the next three hundred years, which passed fairly peacefully in rebuilding Britannia to its glory. After 300 years of peace, a movement known as the Zog Cabal or the Followers of the Armageddon made itself known. These people we frustrated by the current state of Britannia and wished to stop the growing corruption and to restore balance between nature and civilisation. By choosing the name of Zog they wanted refer to recreation. Although they were rather radical by their philosophy and action, their goal was meant to improve the conditions of common man and better Britannia. As with many movements, the factor of eager and fanatical people made the movement unstable, also we must not underestimate some peoples fear of change which certainly was a factor as well. It was Lord British who ordered the arrest and disbanding of this movement, giving national security as the reason. This was not well taken among the Zog Cabal and lead to panic, which lead them to use other studies of Zog, the incomplete spell of Armageddon. The spell did not have the desired effect of clearing Britannia from corruption, but with massive earthquakes passages to underground world, which we know as the Lost lands, opened. This marked the end of the cabal and soon afterwards the leaders of Cabal were arrested or killed. The involvement of other people, from high end of the society, were often hinted but never confirmed. Few years after this time Britannia fell under attacks of undead and fiendish creatures which even took control of City of Trinsic for a short period. It soon became certain that the lover and student of Mondain had returned after 300 years. It has been theorised that the lady Minax had apparently exposed to Mondain's experiments of Immortality as she has exceeded human age, but yet look like a woman of twenty summers, after 300 years of Mondain's death. Also to this day, the dimension where she was hiding has remained unclear, although some think Ilshenar might have been the place. To provide safe haven from Minax's attack, Nystul the court magician of Lord British, cast a spell to another dimension of Britannia as we know it, an empty dimension. However the effect of the spell was devastating to the nature and drained the trees out of life and to this day they have not recovered. The casting of the spell was success, and now Britannia has two facets named after our moons: Trammel and Felucca. And to this day Minax has remained as influential force on Felucca facet, and Trammel has been kept relatively out of conflict by Lord British army. To conclude this rather short version of our great history I must remind that current times are unease with wars and conflicts of different factions, and it is my fear that philosophical thinking has been forgotten by some. For more philosophical approach to world, seek out a tome named: The Circle of Logic.
